Conclusion Questions (REMEMBER TO ANSWER IN COMPLETE SENTENCES)

1.What book did you decide to redesign the cover for? Why did you choose this book?

I chose the novel Holes by Louis Sachar. I choose this book because it was one of my favorite books from my childhood, and I thought I could put a unique twist on the cover.

2. What parts of the plot did you use as inspiration for your book cover design?

The main part of the plot I included into my design was the design of a hole in the letter O. This relates to the plot because the main setting of the story is a camp where the boys are required to dig holes all day long.

3. In as much detail as possible record the steps it took to create this project in photoshop. Use complete sentences. Try to recall as many of the different tools, processes and keyboard commands as possible.

The first step I took was adding text the title from the front cover but leaving out the letter "O" so I could create the design that I had envisioned for the cover. I did this by using the circle tool to add a circle and putting a picture of a hole in center to give it the appearance of a hole in the ground. After this I designed the spine in the same way. I also used the rectangle tool to put a blue box for the authors name at the top. After I was done designing I decided to download some new fonts to add to my design to make it stand out and look unique. I used 1-3 different fonts on my book cover.

4.What was the easiest and what was the most challenging part of creating your cover?

The easiest part was coming up with an idea for the cover and implementing it because I immediately knew what I wanted to do. The hardest part was creating the inside covers because I wasn't sure what route to go with the design, leading to me doing it last minute.

5. Based on the learning target, "Students will redesign a cover for a famous book that appeals to a modern literacy audience by developing, proposing and refining artistic ideas, plans, prototypes and production processes for media arts productions.  " what level of mastery does your project demonstrate (Exceeds, Meets, Needs Work, minimal understanding). Why do you think so? Make sure to provide specific evidence.

I would say meets because I met all the criteria but didn't go above and beyond the criteria or do anything super impressive from a objective standpoint.
